We spent the day at the beach today. I forgot my memory card for my camera, so I don't have many pictures. When we got home from the beach, we showered the girls and Mike picked up takeout from a popular fresh fish place. It was great. Below: Maya and Hannah watching a movie outside while they waited for dinner to arrive After dinner, we drove over to Madaket for ice cream and Robin took some photos of the girls on the beach at sunset (stay tuned for those). The girls are so excited to see Grandma and Papa tomorrow.

Finally!!! The sun!!! We got up, got ready and headed to the beach. We decided to go to Jetties Beach because Nanny and Babo could meet us there in their dinghy. Maya got a kick out of seeing them arrive. We played in the sand, swam a bit, ate a picnic lunch, and then Maya took a nap in the stroller. Once Maya woke up, the tide had gone out far enough that there were some awesome shallow areas for us to sit around and play in. The girls had a blast splashing around and digging in the mud.
We woke up to more cloudy skies and a misty rain today. We hoped it would burn off, but decided to send Mike and Maya on a jog with the jogging stroller while Hannah and Robin straightened up the house. Then we took the kids to a Natural History museum. Maya loved it. Hannah was terrified because there were a ton of dead animals, skeletons, etc. Needless to say, we didn't stay long. We ended up heading downtown for lunch with Stacey and Babo (Nanny stayed behind on the boat). After lunch it was raining pretty hard and downtown was packed with people so we headed back to the house so Maya could nap. Hannah was DYING to swim, so we compromised and let her swim in Stacey's jacuzzi tub. She absolutely loved it. Tonight Stacey decided to stay home and catch up on work and Nanny and Babo stayed on the boat for dinner so we took the girls to Madaket for dinner at Daddy's favorite restaurant. They were really grumpy so they didn't quite appreciate it the way their parents do, but it was a nice dinner for Mom & Dad.
We were up painfully early this morning thanks to the girls not being used to sharing a room. Lesson learned. We're working on it and will hopefully not start every day of vacation at 5:00am!!! The highlight of the vacation so far for Hannah and Maya has been having Auntie Stacey here with us. They may be taking that excitement a bit too far, as shown below. (she was showering and they were "waiting for her." :) It was cold and cloudy today with rain approaching so we did some crafts in the morning. Then we took the girls to Childrens Beach downtown to play on the playground (and release a little energy). Then we did a little t-shirt shopping and had lunch on Straight Wharf. We picked up our first batch of fudge and then headed back to the house to put Maya down for a nap. After nap, Mike took the girls to the aquarium (so Robin had a chance to straighten up at home) but unfortunately it was closed. Luckily, Nanny and Babo had arrived on their boat, so Mike and the girls picked Nanny up at the water launch and brought her back to the house to hang out. The we all packed into the car, picked Babo up at the dinghy dock, and went to The Sea Grill for dinner, which was great. Hoping for better weather tomorrow because Hannah is DYING to swim in the ocean.
We're here!!! We had a fairly smooth trip to Nantucket for our summer vacation. The girls watched movies on the way to the ferry and they LOVED seeing us drive our car on the "big boat." They both slept for most of the ferry ride. Our ferry arrived at 11:30 and we couldn't get into our house until 3:00 so we had lunch at Bartlett's Farm and then went back into town for an afternoon treat. We grabbed last minute groceries and then headed to our house. The girls went NUTS when they saw the house. They love it and asked if we could live here forever. Mike took the girls to pick Stacey up at the airport while Robin stayed behind to unpack and organize everything. We had grilled steak, corn on the cob and pasta salad on the deck for our first dinner on the island. After dinner, we took the girls to Siasconset for ice cream and a quick trip on the beach to see the ocean. They were both exhausted and went to sleep pretty quickly when we finally got them home, bathed and in bed.
